The Hauora Framework

The Hauora Framework is a Māori wellness philosophy that forms the foundational aspects of our approach.

The Hauora Framework is based on wellbeing, and encompasses mental, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing. It is thought that each of these cornerstones are all inter-dependant on each other. We have adopted this concept and base our teachings on building resilience and overall wellbeing for individuals and their whānau.

Future Footprints has adopted this framework to provide consistency of direction and a clear pathway between each of these cornerstones. We believe that this will assist in developing positive outcomes. Each child is unique, and as such, the program is designed to meet the specific needs of each individual.

Often, peoples perception of overall wellness, is based on physical wellbeing. However, it is important to note that to live well, we need to ensure our mental health, spirituality, and strength of our whānau is needed to complete the overall wellbeing of ones self. Utilising the complete Hauora model, we aim to adhere towards total wellness.

The Hauora model will be used to symbolise the four pillars of strength of an individual (mental and emotional, social, physical, spiritual), to develop and nurture the holistic wellbeing of each child.
